A while back, after using the great Nativescript to build my shiny new app, I was confronted with a small dilemma - signing the finished APK to make it installable via Google Play!
Unfortunately, Nativescript for building apps can be likened to a hardcore web developer that prefers Notepad instead of Dreamweaver! For a mobile app developer transitioning from the almost "closed" Appcelerator Titanium platform, using Nativescript could be a pain save for the resources online that help you get around it. I love the Windows operating system and its GUI (I love the Mac too for similar reasons) and since I first used Windows 3.11 and then Windows '95, my point-and-click fever has defied every known cure. Titanium Studio allowed you sign APKs from within the Eclipse IDE as did Android Studio. But having uninstalled both IDEs from my PC, I needed a solution with a GUI that was lightweight. That, my friend, was not available. At least I was unable to find any that worked well on Windows 8.1. That's how this shiny new solution came about!
